Day 52 February 28 monster owl hat

This hat is made from the sleeve of a sweatshirt and some t-shirt scraps.  I made some children's hats with the rest of the sleeve.  Of course the inner eyes are peace symbols - just because.

Day 51 February 27 baby head paper weight

I don't think I even have to explain this one.  Adds a little fun and weirdness to your desk.

Day 50 February 26 napkin decoupaged box

The box that the wooden puzzles came in is now a perfect box for some jewelry.  I had this paper napkin that I had saved because I loved the Swedish scene on it.  I decoupaged it to the lid and sealed it.  I added a little color to the outside of the box and sealed that.  Lovely!

Day 49 February 25 plastic bag sandals

These sandals are a little rough looking but are actually quite comfortable.  They are just plastic bags made into "plarn" and then crocheted..

Day 48 February 24 t-shirt tote

This is a very easy project and I really like the result.  I just cut out the arms and neck of a t-shirt, sewed the bottom, stamped some design on it [ the other side has the logo that was on the t-shirt] and then cut some slits in it.  It really makes a good size market bag.

Day 47 February 23 best friends puzzle pendant

When my daughter was younger she and her friends always had necklaces with "best" and "friends" on them.  I made these from some wooden puzzle pieces that I covered with maps, dictionary pages and a piece of  envelope with the stamp on it from Brazil.  Then I added the "best" and " friends" and sealed it.  In each set the two pieces fit together.  I then made a loop out of recycled copper wire so they can hang on a necklace or a key chain.

Day 46 February 22 scrap song bird

I will acquire some old clothes just because I like the material.  This little song bird is made from that material.  I've got spring on my mind and everyday I hear the birds when I go for my walks with the dogs so I made his beak out of music paper.  He does stand on his own and I think I may make a whole flock.

Day 45 February 21 t-shirt circle vest

I made this by piecing together some t-shirts, cutting them out into two large circles, adding the armholes and stitching them together around the edges.  It makes a reversible vest.  It is kind of cool because you can still use any graphics on the t-shirts to make the vest unique.

Day 43 February 19 woven map basket

It has been a long time since I have done any basket weaving and I have never used this technique.  It was challenging and fun.  I used maps that I cut an folded for this basket.  I love the result.

Day 42 February 18 plastic bag apron

This  apron is made almost entirely of plastic bags.  I used part of a t-shirt for the apron strings because it is stretchy and will hold up to being tied easier.  The bib can be folded down under the apron if you don't need it.  Isn't it cute? And very functional.

Day 41 February 17 tape measure bracelet

I sew and love it.  These bracelets are made from old sewing tape measures.  I added a little cherry charm from  a piece of broken jewelry.

Day 40 February 16 magazine roll necklace

I love these beads made of magazine strips.  I made this necklace by weaving two pieces of hemp through the beads.  Very pretty.

Day 39 February 15 harry potter wands

This is for all the Harry Potter fans - and there are a few in my house.  I made these wands from chop sticks.  A lot of hot glue and beads make the handles texture,  then paint and a little gilt and you have your own magic wand.

Day 38 February 14 dana banner

Happy Valentines Day!  I made this banner for my daughter because she is so cool.  Her friend Tara drew a picture of her and I took that picture and transferred it onto a piece of Styrofoam from a meat package.  Then I inked it up and transferred it to cloth scraps from another project..  My daughter Dana loves peace symbols so those had to be added.  Then I sewed them together for this cool banner.

Day 37 February 13 sitting sisters

I made these sitting sisters out of remnant roof flashing, photos and paper scraps.  We are sitting on a ledge of wood covered with map and edged with short pieces of some red branches.

Day 36 February 12 dog step

I found this bed table at Salvation Army Thrift Store and turned it into a deck for the dogs to look out the window.  The top was just a piece of plywood so to give it more height I added two layers of scrap foam board insulation, a folded blanket piece and some batting.  I then pieced together some  old jeans and stapled it on.  I knew I would find something else to do with the blue jeans.

Day 35 February 11 jeans pocket hangers

I always want to do something with old jeans and I found this great idea.  Using just the pocket I added some embellishments and paper and pictures ect.  Then I add a piece of wire to use as a hanger and this is what I got.  Now what to do with the rest of the jeans?

Day 34 February 10 bottle cap lockets

I am not sure what "steampunk" is but I will call these Valentine steampunk lockets.  They are made from bottle caps and bits of aluminum can that I cut and stamped.  A picture or a word or two could go on the inside.

Day 33 February 9 paper porcupine ball

This is a porcupine ball.  I made these for Christmas and really love them.  I have made them out of music sheets and book pages and like this one old atlas pages. They are so fun I had to make some more.

Day 32 February 8 magazine roll heart pin

It is a week until Valentines so I thought I would do a heart shape pin.  The round shapes are made from rolling and gluing magazine pages.  It makes some very colorful and interesting beads.  I like these and will use them again.

Day 31 February 7 zippered ear buds

Zippers are amazing!  I sewed a zipper from a deconstructed garment around the wires to my ear buds.  Now when I put them in my bag, all I have to do is zip it up and they don't get all tangled.  Easy solution to an annoying problem.

Day 30 February 6 domino love pins

A little pre-valentine.  I made these pins out of an old set of childrens dominos.  After adding print from some old book pages and stamping and adding other papers I covered it with a glaze and added the pin closure. Oh and picnik photo editing sure makes it fun to play with the pictures.

Day 29 February 5 dog collars

This is by far the easiest project I've done so far but the most difficult to photograph.  I can't seem to get  these two dogs together to pose for me and they look so cute in their new collars.  Actually they are old collars from some old childrens shirts.  I simple cut them off and buttoned them on Matilda and Janie.

Day 28 February 4 can mosaic mirror

I love this!  I painted a wood frame black and hot glued one inch square pieces of tin cans to it like a mosaic. I added a mirror instead of a picture and it is so cool!

Day 27 February 3 cd necklace

Can you believe the dangles on this necklace are made from a cd?  This is not what I expected it to look like when I started but I am delighted with the result. Sometimes what seems like a mistake ends up to be quite nice.  I made earrings to go with it but I didn't get them in the photo.

Day 26 February 2 drink can containers

Energy drinks and ice teas and sodas all come in some incredibly colorful cans.  I made a couple of coin or key containers out of a few.  Very simple.  I couldn't resist taking the picture outside because it is sunny and bright out there in beautiful northern Michigan.  It is cold and drifty but very pretty.

Day 25 February 1 mustache phone case

This is my handy dandy phone bag.  It is the exact size of my phone and has a cord to hang around my neck.  I made it out of felted sweater material and lined it with soft fleece.  You may notice the mustache - also felted sweater material -  that I sewed on the outside just for fun.  Dana looks great even with a little facial hair.
